The Department of Energy (DOE) will auction 3,840 megawatts (MW) of mid-merit gas-fired power capacity within the year, with delivery dates spanning 2026 to 2031, as the agency moves to shore up grid reliability amid the country’s growing reliance on intermittent renewable energy.
